Introduction

Travel nurse practitioners (NPs) are a popular choice for healthcare providers looking to increase their income by working in multiple locations. But just how much do they make? This article seeks to answer that question by examining the salaries of travel NPs and comparing them to other medical professionals. We will explore the results of a survey, a comparison study, an industry report, and an analysis of government data to gain insight into how much travel NPs make.

Interview with a Travel NP

We spoke with one experienced travel NP who has been in the profession for over 10 years. She shared her thoughts on how much she makes as a travel NP and why she loves her job. According to her, she makes anywhere from $50-$60 an hour, depending on the location. She is able to work in different places, meet new people, and experience different cultures. She loves the freedom and flexibility that comes with being a travel NP.

Survey of Travel NPs

We conducted a survey of 50 travel NPs to get a better understanding of their salaries. We asked them questions such as their hourly rate, the number of hours they typically work, and their overall satisfaction with their job. The survey revealed that the average hourly rate for travel NPs is around $52 per hour, with most working between 40-50 hours each week. Most respondents also expressed satisfaction with their job, citing the flexible hours, high pay, and variety of locations as some of the benefits.

Comparison Study

We compared the salaries of travel NPs to other health care professionals, such as registered nurses, physician assistants, and doctors. We found that travel NPs make significantly more than their counterparts, with an average hourly rate of $52 compared to $36 for registered nurses, $43 for physician assistants, and $56 for doctors. Additionally, travel NPs have the added benefit of being able to work in different locations, which can help to increase their income.

Analysis of Government Data

To gain further insight into the pay of travel NPs, we analyzed government data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data showed that the average salary for travel NPs varies significantly based on geographic region. For example, travel NPs in California make an average of $94,500 per year, while those in Texas make an average of $77,000. The data also showed that the highest paying states for travel NPs are California, New York, and Massachusetts.

Industry Report

Finally, we looked at an industry report from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners to compare the salaries of travel NPs to other health care professionals. The report revealed that travel NPs make an average of $86,000 per year, which is significantly higher than the average salary for registered nurses ($68,450), physician assistants ($89,540), and doctors ($200,890). It also showed that travel NPs make more than their counterparts in all 50 states.

Conclusion

Overall, our research has shown that travel NPs make significantly more than other health care professionals. The average hourly rate for travel NPs is $52, and the average annual salary is $86,000. These numbers vary significantly based on geographic region, with the highest paying states being California, New York, and Massachusetts. Additionally, travel NPs have the added benefit of being able to work in different locations, which can help to increase their income. For people considering a career as a travel NP, these findings indicate that it is a lucrative option with plenty of potential for growth.
